ABOUT THE WORK:

I’ve been drawing and doodling since I can remember, and my work has evolved mainly in scale and technique but has otherwise stayed pretty consistent as far as the content. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about themes and I definitely don’t (and can’t) do realism. The images come to me and I enjoy bringing them to life on the canvas. Often I start out with small sketches which I tend to use as guides, but I work spontaneously once I get to the canvas. Premeditated doodling might be a way to describe it.

I started out working with colored pencils and watercolors, but since the mid-90s I have mainly worked with acrylics. I use brushes for the broad strokes, and paint filled syringes to lay down the details. The images often incorporate animals, gears, modes of transport and machines as well as repeating shapes and patterns. I think my work has meaning, but not necessarily the kind I can put into words. I make images that make me happy, and I hope that they will make other people happy, too.

Thanks for taking a look at my art!
